Directional Guide

Directional Guide

Description

Podotactile pavement is currently the best solution to facilitate access to transport, buildings and other public places to people with vision problems

The directional podotactile guide creates guidance for people with visual impairments.  It must be arranged parallel to the flow of traffic since it has a step-by-step movement physiology. It is just as noticeable indoors as outdoors.  The directional podotactile guide creates a rational and structured directional route through which people with visual disabilities can move with total autonomy

The directional constant is ensured by grooves arranged in the direction of travel and placed at distances that correspond to the standards backed by studies linking characteristics of plantar tactile sensation. This ensures that the tip of the cane, if used as a guide, won’t pop out of the slots

Thanks to their high tactile and visual contrast, the marks are easily identifiable, preventing slippage even in humid conditions.  It can be applied on any type of surface and is available in different dimensions to facilitate its installation on platforms, stairs, ramps, hallways, elevators, etc...

The range of podotactile pavements complies with the UNE 23727-90 and NF F-16101 fire resistance standards, in addition to other European regulations such as EN 13501-1, satisfying the strictest European directives regarding fire safety of materials installed in public places

SUMIGRAN's tactile pavement

  • Rubber without halogen content
  • It is self-extinguishing ( M2, in accordance with French standard and Bfl-s1, according to European standard )
  • It has low smoke emission and is also low toxicity ( F1 )
  • Scratch resistant
  • In case of combustion, emits fumes with low opacity ( S1 )
  • Dimensional and color stability

The color of the touch-pad depends on the application medium.  It must guarantee a high contrast with the floor with which it is installed

To define the most appropriate designs, we study the force regulations in each country, and seek advice from local experts in the field.  Thus, our podotactile pavement has the recommendation from the ONCE Foundation in Spain and the approval of the RNIB ( Royal National Institute for the Blind ) in Great Britain. It has been installed in environments that lead the standardization of universal accessibility such as the metros of Madrid, Paris, and London

It is easy to assemble, installs fast and without construction.  It adheres and seals on the existing lining, which avoids the inconvenience of lifting and replacing materials, and drastically reduces work times and therefore labor costs

This saving of time and cost is caused in part by the length of the plates themselves, which can be up to 2,500 mm, which reduces installation time and simplifies the laborious alignment task

You can walk on the pavement a few hours after installation.  This allows the space to be open to the public without affecting users if the work is completed during the night closing hours

The entire range of podotactile pavement is made in manageable formats that facilitate its transport and transfer to its destination

The tactile pavement is applicable in:

Indicators of changes of elevation, routes of movement between the most relevant elements of a public place, signage of stairs, ramps, elevators, doors, counters, wagons, emergency exits, etc.

Below are all its features

Typical locations

  • Transportation: train stations, metro stations, airports, ports, bus stations, parking lots, etc...
  • Institutions and public places: official government bodies, public entities, hospitals and clinics, schools, universities, etc...
  • Leisure and commercial areas: stadiums, sports centers, cinemas and theaters, shopping centers, banks, etc...
  • Tourism: museums, hotels, restaurants, bars and cafes, etc...
